The most important measure of the board community aside from the ingenuity of their admins and developers, is number of visitors and participants. This way community is split. Some people will jump to the opportunity right away; other will be reluctant till the very end. Other than the obvious inconvenience in visiting two boards, members and guests are bound to disperse. The old forum (this one) will decline considerably and the new one will grow much slower then it normally would. Please explain why have you decided on this timid policy of change dynamic? (and if you already have discussed this elsewhere, please post a link )

2. The new features, as I understand them, are prolonged access to files hosted on your server awarded for that elusive measure of participation. Ability to upload files internally is a great boon to Padders and from what I gather hosting files on your servers is to be encouraged. But after a grace period of a week (???) file access will be restricted to those deemed worthy! I find this very detrimental and unfair to the lurkers which are the major, if obscure, part of this community. I'm sure that ofor every registered member there are 3 or 4 if not more lurkers. I've seen them treated like some forum parasites all too often (not specifically here, but in general), but they are the raw materials which make the building blocks of any online community. That is where new members and participants are recruited from in time. Sure at first glance, principle of reciprocity in linking participation with allowed access encourages more active approach to the community. It will boost number of new memberships initially as some dogged lurkers will join and try to gain access. But majority of lurkers will be disheartened by lack of access and wander elsewhere in search of entertainment. And that will hurt the communities' growth and quality in the prospect. Same goes for infrequent registered posters, whose participation is the spice of this board.

Rewarding participation is great but it should not take the form of penalizing nonparticipation.

3. Finally, as many have suggested before, the name and logo have to stay as they are. After all if we look around, some of the most well-known and impressive logos come to as from prehistoric times.

One question: are all posts migrated or do we have to repost recent post for points? Since I'm so opposed to this award system and all...
